HACIENDA CARMEL, Monterey County — October 29, 2026. The Hacienda Carmel Community Association’s revised September 2026 vegetation-management document sets out how the community plans to balance wildfire preparation, water conservation, landscape appearance and maintenance of shared outdoor areas.
What does the document prioritize?
The revision points to protection of structures and people, defensible-space practices, use of appropriate drought-tolerant and fire-conscious plants, and careful use of association funds. It references applicable Zone 0 requirements as part of landscaping decisions, without proving that a particular measure is legally mandatory at every home today.
Who decides what gets removed or planted?
The document assigns routine pruning, irrigation maintenance, weed control and removal of dead material to management and landscape staff. The association board oversees major common-area projects and funding. For complicated work, the association can bring in qualified arborists, landscaping professionals and wildfire-mitigation specialists.
What remains to be documented?
A policy framework does not establish the completion date of any specific tree removal, planting or construction contract. Residents can request project-level decisions, site plans and upcoming work notices from association management.

California58 is reporting the content of the policy document, not certifying that each contemplated measure has been carried out.
